Rachel Pritchett’s biography

Personal

35-year resident of Bainbridge Island and eighth-generation Washingtonian. Live in Meadowmere. Raised three daughters on Bainbridge with husband Lloyd, a retired journalist now working at the Rolling Bay post office.

Professional Experience

35 years as an award-winning journalist, 30 of those with the Kitsap Sun. My work included investigative reporting on national, state, and local governments, including Bainbridge parks, city hall, police, and fire. Founding editor, Bainbridge Islander newspaper, 1984–2013.

Education

Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Studies, 1978; Master’s Degree in Journalism, 1980.

Community service

Current council member, chair of buildings and grounds committee, Bethany Lutheran Church of Bainbridge Island. Bainbridge troop leader, Girl Scouts of America, 1999–2002. Ongoing member of Nature Conservancy and Audubon Society.
